Hi, thats's really useful! I'm originally from Essex but now live in Stepney and am writing abour Jaywick for a project. I used to love going there when I was younger, and am really upset by council plans to destroy Brooklands etc. I'm looking for local residents to interview on their views of regeneration, would anyone be able to help me at all? Hope you've all had a good weekend!

On Llewelyn Davies Yeang`s website in a link you get to "urbintell" Its a pay to use site, but has this header.....
Successful community engagement is the 'missing link' in positive regeneration; place-shaping is not enough November 19, 2007 - Ministers have been accused of paying lip service to community development while denying the sector the investment it needs to transform the lives of disadvantaged people, according to a report in newstart magazine.Amanda Inverarity, chief executive of CDX, a community development membership organisation, described community development as the miss... more>
So, just how does that put us residents who are in the forefront of liason in our communities regeneration needs..

Why is it i`ve done more to promote help in Jaywick, than TDC, ECC, GO-East, EEDA, The Jaywick Action Group, The Jaywick Forum (whoever they are) Project Tendring Tendring regeneration IN-Tend...................................... ? Well, its been a LONG time since any of the above was answered, so, have we come any closer to that mythical world of "Regeneration" Lets look.. most of the housing has been "regenerated" by new windows, outside wall and deep loft Insulation complete with new hi tech air sourced heating units that replaced other out of date old fashioned storage heating and other. those that were retro fitted have enjoyed cheap and efficient heating and hot water 24 hours a day if so wished. The white marble chip coating covers many layers of insulation hidden underneath making our homes both cooler in the heat of summer plus warmer in the depths of winter, ALL FOR FREE... a regeneration bonus then.. then a year or so later the £5million pounds worth of new roads and pavements to highways standards including moder surface water drainage, ALL FOR FREE.... Another regeneration bonus then.. So, tell me...do we need any more regeneration for a while eh.. Way back in 1996/on there was once a masterplan called - JAYWICK< A CHANCE IN A LIFETIME... that put in some new roads, Lotus Way, MId Way, plus the seedbed centre... from that sprung the once "new" flats of Boathouse Developments, and the prize winning homes of the Guinness trust with its Phase 1 build, with its never taken up option 2 developments. The list of Improvements continues but, in 2006 the total cost of bulldoze & rebuild was costed at £75MILLION.. NO ONE HAS THAT NOW NOR ITS CURRENT COSTINGS OF DOUBLE THAT.. So its good to see PLANNING PROPOSALS have gone in on various empty plots with the hope of building fresh new housing to start a slow "soft" regeneration of our beloved Jaywick...
