;D Hi everyone, I was surfing the net and came across this site, and was very pleased to have done so. I've not had a chance to read through all the threads yet but will certainly be taking some time to have a look from now on. I just wondered if some of you could give me some guidance, I'm thinking of buying a holiday home in the Jaywick area, one of those sweet little timber bungalows that are along the seafront, but I've had a couple of people telling me tales about it not being a particularly safe place to live, and a real no no if you have a dog! I'm sure these people are trying to be of help to me but I think the only way to get a true picture of what an area is like to live in is to ask the locals. Can anyone help..ie. tell me which areas to avoid...I am a single woman on my own with a dog so wouldn't want to spend my money and then find that I don't feel safe there. Thanks so much, I look forward to hearing your views.

It's no less safe to live in Jaywick than anywhere else. I can't understand why you were told it wasn't a dog place, a lot of people have them... they don't clean up after them though On the practical side I think perhaps you should try to find out what you can about the regeneration and building regulations as the council seem to not be wanting building works on the Brooklands. However towards the village are bungaloows allong the sea wall.

Many thanks Grinch and Jacky ;D I was told, and it is only hearsay, that there have been a spate of dog poisonings..thats what alarmed me as my dog is my best friend. I hate the fact that people don't clear up after their dogs, even with living in a rural area I still make sure I have enough bags for picking up...there really is no excuse . I suppose its like anywhere, there will be people that like the area and others that don't. Thanks again

Many thanks Willy & Sue, are you able to say whether there are certain parts of Jaywick to avoid...or a part that you would recommend...there are so many properties on the market at various prices it gets oretty confusing.

Well we live at the end of one of the Brooklyn's roads and here it is very quiet. It is a lot noisier up on the top road along the beach especially in the summer months with the holiday makers around, but that is to be expected. I can only recommend Jaywick to you as we both love it here. Willy And Sue

I have lived here for seven years. I have three dogs and a heap of cats!. I havent come across many people who dont like animals here! Never heard of any dog poisonings either. Its super for dogs , on the beach as long as you clean up their mess.

Thanks for that Seashell I have an elderly dog so it will do him the world of good to be able to go on the beach and into the water. If only everyone would clear up after their dogs then I'm sure a lot more people would be tolerant of them. I'm viewing a couple of the bungalows tomorrow and am quite excited about it...lets hope the sun is shining when I get there. ;D

Sadly I didn't go to Jaywick today as my buyer dropped out late yesterday afternoon I hope to get across just as soon as I find another buyer.
