A REGENERATION company cost taxpayers at least £115,711 in officer time to set up.
The sum is the value of time given by Tendring Council staff between December and March in developing INTend.
The six-figure sum will be discussed by the authority's corporate management committee on Monday.
Cllr Peter Halliday requested a closer look at the company's workings.
He wants to know the day-to-day costs to the council, what services and staff are included in the work and at what point the council will consider INTend to be self sufficient.
Council leader David Lines made an announcement in December to develop Project Tendring – a bid to regenerate the district.
Officers were involved in researching the options available which culminated in a report to cabinet in February.
They were then tasked with researching the arrangements and documents to establish a company.
Insurance, legal advice, website, IT purchases, printing, stationary and telephone charges and recruitment advertising cost about £65,000.
Tendring Council initially paid but the cash has been returned and INTend has its own bank account.
The officer time is not an actual cost but is included in the council’s budget.
