Yes you're right, timber framed buildings are still being built and I help build them. The company I work for builds them to the new eco friendly carbon footprint standards. They have expensive cement based boards and insulation and dont lose as much heat because there is no solid cold surfaces like brick or block that draw out the heat. There are companys that are just timber framers, where they build the main structure for contractors. So it looks like the build of our modest little homes is in a way similar to current trends. LOL

i live in one of the so called eco friendly houses, I'm sorry to say they are drafty cold in the winter and to warm in the summer. with them being all electric it is expensive to use the storage heating, and why they made the ceilings so high i will never know........

I prefer the new regen project in Jaywick, championing houses built entirely of cheese.

Wooden houses are build world wide, we have one just outside Orebro in Sweden, complete wood including the roof, can with stand heavy snow and torrential rain, some flooding in spring. But no betittling council so no problems. It is used just as the one in Jaywick for holiday's.
