This was sent to me as an email on 13/11/2007...
NOTHING since has been sent or asked for, so i`m / we / are still waiting for an update, an important update at that....
Dear Mr Burrit
Sincere apologies for the delay in responding to your enquiry. We have participated in meetings with other agencies that have been involved in looking at regeneration options for Jaywick, so the information that I can provide may be very similar to what Tendring District Council and others have said.
As you may know the consultants Llewelyn Davies Yeang (LDY) were commissioned by the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) to identify regeneration options, and there was consultation with local people as part of this work. However the situation regarding flood risk is changing. In December 2006 the Government issued PPS 25, which set new national standards as to how flood risk should be considered at all stages of the planning process. At the same time, the risk of flooding requires further assessment to address the possible implications of climate change.
As a result of this a more in-depth study of flood risk - both now and in the future - has been commissioned. Once this is complete the results will need to be considered alongside the other information that has been gathererd to ensure that regeneration options are safe as well as being viable and, so far as possible, reflect the aspirations of the local community. There will of course be a need for further liason with residents once the options are clearer, and I appreciate that the time which it is taking to reach this stage is frustrating. However it is vital that we ensure that any options for Jaywick's future will not put people at risk. I hope that the results of this further work will be available early next year, although I cannot provide a precise timescale at present.
Kind regards
